I remember my grandfather McCluen quite well, even though he passed away when I was very young. At the age 4 or 5 he took me to my 1st ball game. I don't remember the score but those sacks of warm roasted peanuts and the wooden bleachers I sure do.
Grandfather made a living like everyone else at that time (anyway they could). He bought feathers from farmers, He had this big old barn type building where the feathers were washed & dryed, then sold to manufacturers of pillows, mattress's quilts etc. It's been said that he even spent a few hours in the local tavern where he would pick up a few dollars from those who were foolish enough to play cards with him
